B-grade horror movie - boy is hidden in secret room

I saw a horror film on tv in the late 70s. It was American and was about a teenage boy who accidentally killed a neighborhood girl while walking home from school. He tried to kiss her and pushed her and she hit her head on a rock. To protect him his mother or grandmother hid him in a secret room in her house and didn't let him leave. Eventually she died and a new family moved in. The boy, a little older now used to creep out of hiding at night and watch the teenage girls while they slept. In all it was a b-grade no blood horror / but I don't know the name nor have come across it again. I think the title had his name in it. Eg. Something wrong with Michael. But can't be sure. Any ideas??
